Diary of a wimpy kid really amazes me. It's about a person named Greg who has to survive middle school. Now, he's in summer vacation.
I think the summer vacation theme is a good idea in this series, so readers can take a little break from the school theme. The first few pages are basically explanation of Greg's summer vacation. After that, the funny parts come. Overall, this book is great.
My tip in reading this book is that you don't read too much of it in one day. That way, you can hold the suspense of the story for the next day.

How Successful People Think - A Review

Do successful people think differently than unsuccessful people? John C. Maxwell thinks so and has written another book, based on the premise that successful people have one thing in common -- how they think -- and that anyone can learn that skill.

Maxwell identifies 11 different skills of thinking. As he says in the introduction, he isn't trying to tell the reader what to think, but rather help the reader learn how to think. Many of us know people who claim to think carefully about a decision, but in reality are just reviewing their own narrow thoughts, fears, and prejudices. That isn't real thinking though, at least not the way Maxwell would describe it. As he succinctly explains each thinking skill, one begins to understand an underlying theme. Good thinkers are open minded and thirsty for knowledge. They are willing to reach beyond their own beliefs to uncover what is really true. They approach a subject realistically, yet can be creative and are able to explore all the possible angles.

Though a good leader should adopt all 11 skills, two really resonate with me. The first is the need to question popular thinking. Benjamin Franklin is quoted as saying "If everyone is thinking alike, then no one is thinking." This is the crux of Maxwell's argument against popular thinking. A good thinker doesn't go along because everyone else is. At the same time, shared thinking is important as well. These two skills are not mutually exclusive, as it might appear. Some of us are very competitive, but it isn't a sign of weakness to collaborate with other good thinkers. The give and take of several good thinkers will usually produce a better result than the work of an individual.

The second skill I found especially important is unselfish thinking. This unselfish thinking, freely giving of yourself, results in a more fulfilling life. Too often we get busy and don't think about what we might do for others, or even how a decision might affect those around us. People who practice unselfish thinking find it leads to far greater rewards.

Do we really need a book telling us how to think? As I read through its pages, I questioned that myself. It is not the same fare as The 21 Irrefutable Laws" or other books of the sort and I kept saying to myself, I already know this. I consider myself reasonably good at deducing answers, but not quite possessed of enough hubris to call myself a great thinker. So I looked through the book again and found that each thinking skill Maxwell lays out and each step to obtain that skill are things that could use constant reminder. But the real reason to read this book, and review it often, is what Maxwell never quite says, though it seems to be an underlying theme. That is, a great thinker must start with the humility to admit the need to always strive for improvement.

Children's entertainers can be a tricky one. Who are these people? Why do they want to do this? Will they do a good job? This article aims to answer some of these questions from a parents perspective. I am a mother of 2 living in suburbia Perth. I have organised a few parties for my children and have had some successes and some failures. Lets go into a bit more detail.

Who are these people? Are they crazy to want to spend their time with a bunch of excited children high on sugar? No. Some of these people are trained professionals who love the enthusiasm and energy of a children's birthday party. As far as I can tell, children's entertainers in Perth must be qualified. I bought this after several years of just using combinations of cheap over-the-counter drugstore products. I tried Neutrogena, Cetaphil, St.Ives, Clearasil, Clean & Clear, Noxema, Ponds, etc. You name it, I tried it. I then went to ProActiv, and it worked for a while but didn't deliver consistent results at controlling my breakouts and oily skin. A friend of mine has always had beautiful skin so I tried Clinique based on her recommendation.

I don't know why I never tried Clinique's soap before. If only I could go back in time to when I first started washing my face, I would have started with this product line and that would have been it. Clinique's Liquid Facial Soap works very well, and I get consistent results. I have normal/combination skin so I use the OILY formula, and I was afraid when I first tried this that it would dry out my skin or break me out worse, but it didn't do any of that. I don't use the clarifying lotion, but I do use the Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel, and both of these products together leave my skin feeling cool and soft and not oily or dry at all. I get the perfect amount of moisture, and I don't wake up with a layer of oil on my face anymore. Also, my make-up stays on better now because my skin doesn't get as oily throughout the day anymore. And because my skin isn't as oily overall, I break out less. If I do break out, though, I use Clinique Acne Solutions Emergency Gel-Lotion on my spots and then follow that with the moisturizing gel. I know I can count on Clinique to get rid of my problems quickly now, and that is such a relief for me and my skin.

This face wash has really improved the look and feel of my skin. I especially like that this foams up so well when I'm using it, and the cool feeling I get from the menthol makes my face feel especially clean. One other great thing about this soap is the pump on the bottle. The pump dispenses just the right amount for one wash and also locks in place for those times when you need to travel with it. I only gave it four stars because it doesn't remove eye make-up completely. I still have to prep with eye make-up remover before I wash my face. If Clinique could make this face wash take care of that issue, too, then it would be perfect.

Ever since I discovered these beautiful blocks of olive oil soaps from this company "French Soaps" my skin is not dry and chapped. I don't have to use body lotion or hand cream. In the shower it has a creamy feel unlike regular soap, leaving skin soft and clean. Savon de Marseille olive oil soaps are unfragranced, but they have a clean, olive oil scent that I love.
