Secrets of a Freelance Writer, Third Edition: How to Make $100,000 a Year or More

To sum up this review succinctly, I love this book.

As I jump full-force into a writing career, myself, I have found this book to be very inspiring and an invaluable resource for repeated reference and a great pick me up during those doubtful moments that every freelancer faces as they embark on their career.

Robert Bly has a very approachable writing style (could you expect any different, honestly?) and he provides so much advice that you may find yourself folding every page corner and taking copious notes to try to help yourself remember it all. I started taking notes and then realized I was practically dictating the book verbatim so I decided to just continue reading it all the way through and then go back and pick through it.

If you are feeling lost or overwhelmed about where to begin, or if you're a seasoned pro looking for affirmation that your techniques or working (or trying to figure out why they're not!), this book will surely help you feel more confident and excited about pursuing the freelance life.

Secrets of a Freelance Writer is the definitive guide to building a successful and lucrative freelance writing practice.
"I read an earlier edition of this book as well "The Copywriter's Handbook" very early in my freelance writing career and have to say it was the most valuable tome on my business reference shelf; in fact, the information in TCH contributed to a large part of my success as a freelancer. HOWEVER....

When I wrote to the author, Robert Bly, several years later to thank him for his good advice, his reply was a pitch for AWAI, billed a "writer's resource" that hawks "classes" and "reports" for new and experienced writers -- through those loooooooong sales letters with all kinds of testimonials from "satisfied customers."

Further, I got into an email discussion with Bly over a grammatical point which I know was correct. I very politely pointed it out to him; is response was curt and defensive. So I again tactfully restated my reasoning. His second reply was, "whatever."

Third, I ordered one of his products a few months ago online. I was emailed a code to use to access and download the product. I didn't get to it right away -- maybe a week after it had been sent to me -- and when I attempted to download, was denied access because the code had expired. I wrote to Bly's organzaition once; no reply. I wrote a second time; no reply. Wrote a third time, threatening to notify the publisher of the online newsletter in which his ad had appeared. The reply was notification that my credit card had been credited the amount of my purchase. No apology for the delay in asnwering nor for not telling me the code would expire, no attempt to re-issue the code so I could get the product (besides the incredibly poor customer service, just plain bad business practice) which is all I really wanted when I wrote the first and second times.

So, although I can't deny that Bly knows the freelance writing formula for success, and his books are indeed valuable resources for those of you considering a career in freelance writing, I will never purchase another of his books or online products that would directly profit Bly. I find one of his books in used-book store, though....that's a different story (pun intended)!"

Cambodia vacation

Cambodia vacation

A Honeymoon Vacation Special requires very careful planning, and Cambodia may have been a place you haven’t considered. The Vietnam War and the Khmer Rouge are long gone and Cambodia is emerging as a holiday destination and it could be a very special place to spend a honeymoon.

Cambodia of course is the well known home of Angkor Wat with its magnificent temples, and the classical city of Phnom Penh but what many people don’t realise is that it has some fantastic beaches on the south coast and a great hotel in Sihanoukville called The Sokha Beach Hotel, and this is worth investigating as a great place to finish any Honeymoon vacation Special in Cambodia.

The Sokha Beach Hotel sits in 15 acres of beachfront garden on over a mile of the best white sand beach in Sihanoukville, and is the best hotel in Sihanoukville. It was voted amongst the best new hotels in the world in 2005.

There are 166 rooms all of which are good sized with wooden floors and nice furnishings, with large comfortable beds and the usual amenities including tea and coffee service. The bathrooms are large with separate showers and lots of fluffy towels. There are several categories of room from De Luxe garden view and De Luxe Seaview, Club Suite, Junior Suite, Executive Suite, Apsara Suite, and the Royal Sokha Suite.

The swimming pool is huge, and there are plenty of sunbeds, both there and on the beach, with attentive staff to look after you. You’ll not want to sit by the pool with such a beautiful beach for your honeymoon vacation special!!

In fact the beach is swept all day long to keep it in pristine condition, in fact the sand is finer and whiter than Phuket to give you an idea of the quality. The same is true of the grounds and the restaurants everything is immaculate.

You will enjoy the breakfasts in the air conditioned restaurant with nice touches like an omelette chef, and a noodle chef, and by the way if you leave the airconditioning on in your room when you go out, it is still on when you return which is wonderful.

There is a good seafood buffet, and the Lemongrass restaurant on the beach is very good with the most wonderful setting and great views.

The Spa is beautiful and it is well worth while taking one of their packages, because by Western standards the price is very reasonable. It has a huge Jacuzzi and modern steam room which all guests can use free.

The costs within the hotel for food and drink are a little on the expensive side, so you need to venture out if only to sample something closer to the real Cambodia. Take a walk around the rocks to the next beach and here you will find hustle and bustle but you can eat and drink all night for very little. You will have to put up with beggars and children but bar staff will take care of them.

All in all you won’t do better in Cambodia on your honeymoon vacation special than tour Angkor Wat and then chill out at The Sokha Beach Hotel in Sihanoukville.

Guaranteed car finance

If You Have A Bad Credit Rating Then Look For Car Finance Guaranteed

Guaranteed car finance

If you have got a bad credit rating or a less than perfect credit rating score then when looking to buy a new car you could have come across a very serious snag, you can’t get the credit needed because you are seen as a risk. If this is the case then you should consider looking for car finance guaranteed.

There are specialists websites that will offer car finance guaranteed to those who have poor credit ratings or who are having trouble finding a car loan for any reason and have been turned down by everyone. Sites such as these will offer credit for a car loan even if you have CCJ’s, mortgage arrears, low credit ratings or have no credit history at all, say on just leaving college and could be the only option available to you to finance your new car.

Your credit rating is what all lenders will look at when you apply for a loan of any kind and applying for a loan to buy a car is no exception. Lenders are very strict and if you have a poor history of credit either through no fault of your own or due to such as poor payment history, then it will be next to impossible to get a loan unless you look for a site that specialises in car finance guaranteed. Of course you won’t get the best rates of interest on the loan but at least you will get a loan.

While you can’t expect to get the cheapest rates of interest on your car loan, if you do go with a specialist site they will ensure that they shop around for you and get you the best deal possible. A specialist site will have the knowledge of where to look when it comes to getting car finance guaranteed for those who are having problems getting car finance and you simply won’t be able to get a better deal by looking around yourself.

Louis Rix is a Director of NetCars, one of the UK's leading motoring websites. First established in January 2000, its mission is to become the number one site for used car searches. NetCars also provide car loans, car finance and insurance.

Vanity magazine

Vanity magazine

I've been a subscriber for about 10 years now. I cannot WAIT until this magazine shows up each month. Vanity Fair is full of wonderful articles mostly of the rich elite, but it capitalizes on on how sometimes awful things can happen to people with money too. For instance, Dominick Dunne's diary of the Moxley murder and the Safra murder. I turn to Dunne's article first in every issue. Christopher Hitchens is sometimes a bit of a "windy" rebel. He sometimes makes a point a peppering a lot of words that you may have to look up in theI am a longtime subscriber and am pretty satisfied with the direction that the mag has gone in substance and opinions as well as the eye-opening articles that a lesser mag wouldn't touch. The investigative reporting is as good or better than the New York Times in my opinion. There are sections of the mag that seem dated but I find that these articles are just the mag's way of bragging about their longevity. also the VF party attendances (usually the first section you reach when settling down to read) are also months behind the overall feel of the magazine. I still think VF is probably the best news, opinion and style magazine on the stands today.dictionary.

The lives of the rich and famous are a fascinating read. Truman Capotes Black and White Ball article a few years ago was great. The coverage in the Middle East has been cutting edge. I first heard of the Martha Stewart Imclone stock selling in the pages of Vanity Fair well before it became a scandal.

In response to some postings on Amazon regarding the Hispanic comment: Dame Edna is a comedian. The Hispanic community should take his/her remark with a grain of salt and rise above it. I'm Polish, but I can still appreciate a good Polish joke. The well received sound of laughter is universal.

In closing, I just love reading about casanovas from the 1920's, bi-sexual poets from the 1940's, outsider art from the 1990's, famous restaurants in the 1950's, the history of the corset dating from the 1800's, and cheezy billboard art on the highways of the U.S.A.

Vanity Fair has it all.

Why Be Fashionable - Why Not?

Fashion, Trends, Couture, Ensemble, Accessories, are a few words we keep hearing quite often in our magazines and Celebrity shows on television nowadays. Do we really understand the meaning of these words; moreover do we know the importance of these terms?

We might often take things for granted by saying, "It's their job to be Stylish!" But is it only their job to be stylish, or is it essential to have some sense of style in the "real world" with "real people" too?

First and foremost, let us go on a journey of vogue and style. The word 'fashion' simply implies to the popularity or widespread acceptance of manners, customs, dress, etc. Fashion is that which characterizes or distinguishes the habits, manners, dress, etc. of a particular time period, it's the prevailing or preferred manner of dress, adornment, behaviour, or way of life. Also the word 'Style' is sometimes used interchangeably with fashion, but it also denotes conformance to a prevalent standard, stressing on the adherence to standards of elegance!

So from this, we can actually realize that Fashion is not such a high-brow thing after all, it has been prevalent since ages and simply denotes the agreeable manner of certain things, so why can't we follow fashion?

Now let us see how we can easily become a bit more stylish and fashionable, and have a few simple collections of clothing and accessories which will make us look far better than we ever thought, we could! And let's admit it, we don't want to get into the "who's who" of the Fashion World, we just want to simply pick up a few ensembles and hit the road!

So, now we can go to the nearby off-the-rack showroom to pick up some old fashion clothing, which lets admit it, wouldn't be viable as there will be multiple factors to stop us, laziness and embarrassment being few of them. Another option could be getting them tailor-made, which takes a lot of effort, to get the material, think of a design, and give it to the neighbouring tailors to stitch and you never know what he might turn it into!

Let's now enter the world of Internet-shopping. There is a wide variety of products and even custom made services for your requirement, and you can purchase your favourite outfit from the comfort of your house and without the embarrassment of not knowing what is and isn't in Style.

You will find many internet-shopping websites which provide elaborate range, and ship the product to your house at minimal charges. One of these websites being http://www.empirestyle.net, it provides a chic and contemporary range of up-to-date fashionable clothing and accessories; be it 'Trim-dresses', 'Maxi-dresses', 'Waist-coats', 'Hats', 'Jewelleries' and even 'Shoes for all occasions'.

This website from 'Active Technologies 1895 GmbH' brings superior quality products for its customers in various collections from famous International brands such as D&G, Archive, Medieval etc. http://www.empirestyle.netalso brings great range in personal wear like Lingerie and Nightwear, and a collection from 'Boutique'.

So what are you waiting for? To get into the groove of fashion and to look your best, check out the website of 'Active Technologies 1895 GmbH'; and before you know it, you'll be the 'talk of the town', for your amazing fashion style!

Fashion design merchandising

Fashion design and merchandising go hand in hand down the runway of the fashion world. Fashion merchandising involves the business side of fashion and offers great opportunities for people who love fashion and want to have a career in buying, product development, management, or fashion marketing. Fashion design and merchandising are demanding jobs but also very rewarding.

The Job Of A Merchandiser

A merchandiser is involved in every stage of the process. Fashion design and merchandising are connected from design to sales. The merchandisers advise the designer on market trends, get all specifications from the project buyers, get samples approved and negotiate the price of the final sale. They are also responsible for making sure that consignments are delivered to the customers according to schedule. In the world of fashion design and merchandising it is the merchandisers who will usually have bottom-line responsibility for all projects or departments during the various levels of their careers. Most work in fashion design and merchandising involves juggling past, present, and future work. Merchandisers spend a great deal of time evaluating sales from previous time periods in order to properly plan and decide goals for future sales. In fashion design and merchandising, it isn't just about shopping; with fashion design and merchandising the merchandisers must be able to analyze and create a complex business plan aimed at specific buying habits and customers. This requires an ability to forecast trends and then translate them into a profitable business plan for the company.

Anytime a decision is made to create a fashion product and offer it to the consumer, even if it is a kids fashion design or a costume, fashion merchandising is involved, including product development, buying, marketing, or management of the product. Even if it's just deciding which mannequin should face which direction -- odds are good that someone involved with fashion merchandising has the final "OK".

As with most fashion jobs, the key is to start with disciplined study to direct your talent into a successful career. With the fashion design and merchandising fields there are also many opportunities -- whether you're in school or not -- for internships. These internships should be considered vital for advancing your career. Indeed, any work with experienced industry connections -- be it in a design house or in retail -- provides a key stepping stone for students to meet important industry personnel who have open positions and knowledge to share within the fashion design and merchandising field.

Follow Up Your Acne Skin Treatment With Proper Acne Skin Care

Acne is a broad term. It covers blackheads, blemishes, whiteheads and pimples. These facial skin problems usually appear on teenagers and common to the puberty stage.

There are many ways to avoid acne in the first place. There are ways and tips to prevent having them. First, if you have a pimple on your face, do not pop them. If you pop them, make sure you clean the area with clean cotton to avoid irritation than may cause a bigger problem. But, I will not suggest popping it, because it will leave a scar on your face.

To avoid acne, always remember to wash your face two to three times a day. Remove make-up or anything that was applied on your face. Make-ups clog your pores, making them dirty and will cause a spot.

To those who have a sensitive skin type, you can use mild soap. There are soaps that are designed for acne-prone skin, or for those who have oily skin. People who have oily skin are prone to acne. You can also use an anti-bacterial soap because it is mild and will not make your acne worse.
Eat lots of fruits like lemons, oranges and any citruses. It will make your skin smooth and soft. Some people are even applying them on their faces for better results.

Exfoliating regularly can help you remove dead skin cells. A gentle scrub on your face using natural exfoliating ingredient will give you a healthy glow. Remember, do not over exfoliate your skin, it can cause acne due to irritation. Instead of rubbing your skin, pat it dry, because rubbing can also cause irritation. I do not use any products on my face. I just wash it with water and pat it dry not rubbing it because I know how sensitive my skin is.

Bacteria is one of the causes of acne, you can use a good toner to remove it. Always use a clean cotton or cloth when using a toner.

Having a regular sleep also helps us reduce acne. It can prevent unwanted spots, because having enough sleep helps your skin get the relaxation it really needs. Drink lots of liquid, any liquid will do but, water is the best one to refresh our inner body and cleanse our blood. Liquids are good ways to cleanse our entire system and it has proven to provide acne free skin not only on our faces but all over our body. And do not ever stress yourself so much. Take a rest and many sleep. Always change your pillow cases as well because bacteria build up may take place on them.

Remember that, medication can cause a bigger problem if not used in a proper way or if we do not follow the right application of the product. Ask a doctor for an advice before putting any products on your face. If the product fails and irritates your skin, call a doctor right away to avoid more serious irritation that can lead to further infections.

Learn to play the guitar

Learn To Play Guitar - Pinch Harmonics And Making Your Guitar Scream

In this article I'll explain how to make your guitar squeal with Pinch Harmonics. A lot of guitarists have trouble learning how to do these, but it's really a simple technique.

I'm going to touch on all types of harmonics in an effort to explain how Pinch Harmonics work when your playing the guitar.

If your like me you like to add a little expression when playing your guitar, by adding some harmonics and pinch harmonics.

To get this started we're going to go into a little detail about how the guitar strings actually work. Now I'm not going to be all technical, as that's not who I am :o)

Basically the guitar string vibrates between the nut and the bridge. If you look closely you can see the string vibrating like a sine wave.

Natural harmonics happen at the spaces along the string where the "wave" stops and starts a new one. (Not technically correct but makes sense to me this way).

This normally happens just above the 5th fret, the 7th fret, and the 12th fret wires. If you take a minute in a well lit room you can see the spots where the vibration along the string actually seems to be stopped. When you lightly touch a ringing string on these points you will get a natural harmonic chime.

Tap harmonics are simply fretting a string and moving the natural harmonic spot up accordingly. For example: If you fret the Low E String at the 3rd fret and pluck the string, your "natural harmonics" would no longer be at the 5th, 7th, and 12th frets. You would Tap the string above the 8th, 10th, and 15th fret wire to sound the harmonic. Hence the name....Tap Harmonic.

Now..to the meat of this...the all powerful Pinch Harmonic!! I say all powerful just because I love the extra expression and sound you can get from them.

To do a Pinch Harmonic you basically "Pinch" the string between your Pick and the side of your thumb that's holding the pick.

This is the way I do them and have had excellent luck with this technique.

When you strike the string you let your thumb sound the harmonic you want. It takes a bit of trial and error to find the right areas above the pickups that sound the harmonics you want, but only a little.

The best way to learn the placement is to crank up your distortion (easier to sound them), and on put your fret hand on the Low E or A String on the 5th or 7th fret as if you were playing A note or D note.

Start with your pick in about the middle of the Neck and Bridge pickups and "Pinch" the string so that when your pick sounds it your thumb immediately touches the string. This should sound a Pinch Harmonic. The motion is similar to turning the ignition in a car, just not as drastic...it's a slight "Turn" or "Pinch" on the string.

You may have to move your hand slightly higher or lower on the string to find the "sweet spots". Keep trying different areas until you get it just right.

Once you've found the spots that give the sounds you want, make a mental note of where they are. When you move your fret hand higher or lower on the neck...the places you can hit the harmonics will move slightly. This falls in line with the way a Tap Harmonic works, so keep that in mind.

Keep practicing finding the "Sweet Spot" until you can do it each time you try. This part does take a little time and practice.

Just as a note: When you change to a different guitar, be prepared to relearn where the Pinch Harmonics sound. Every guitar I've played on has them in slightly different places. Differences in neck length, bridge placement, manufacturing tolerances all come into play.

So, that's all there is to it...Keep practicing till you get the feel for it, try adding bends and sound another one, you'll make that guitar scream like a wounded banshee in no time.

If you want to really increase your skill with Pinch harmonics after you get the feel for them, try practicing them with a clean sound. They can still be sounded and your accuracy will increase exponentially!!

Diet meal plans

Meal Plans Atkins Diet - Is it Really Right For You?

Losing weight is very popular nowadays. People are starting to get health conscious and thus have indulged themselves on weight loss programs. On several cases, people would go for diet plans. Others do exercises in gyms. This is the reason why gyms have also become popular today and have started to become a good source of income for businessmen. Experts say that combining a good diet plan with exercise is the best way to lose weight. Exercising can be learned from going to a gym with a gym instructor. Diet plans, however, have to be chosen very carefully. You first need to know what diet plan would be good for you. And you might consider meal plans Atkins diet as one of your choices for a diet plan.

Dr. Robert Atkins first introduced meal plans Atkins diet during the 1970's. But this diet plan only became popular after 10 years along with Dr. Robert Atkins' book, "Dr. Atkins' New Diet Revolution". Afterwards, millions of people now follow the meal plans Atkins diet.

Meal Plans Atkins' diet is a high protein, low carbohydrate diet. In this diet, you are allowed to eat meat, cheese and eggs for they are high in protein. On the other hand, foods high in carbohydrates like rice and bread are discouraged. When you eat food high in carbohydrates, more enzymes are needed to be generated in order to digest it. Your pancreatic cells may be damaged in the long run if you keep generating enzymes. This could also lead to diabetes. With Atkins diet, your body will burn the fats for energy instead of depending on the carbohydrates you consume. If you burn those extra fats, you'll be able to lose weight. Furthermore, overall health is improved with Atkins' diet. How? When you burn the extra fats in your body, toxins are also removed since the fats contain these toxins. So would you try Atkins diet? While many people can really make use of it, not everyone can do it. People with kidney disorders, diabetes and pregnancy, are not allowed to do the Atkins diet. So before trying the Atkins Diet, get examined by a doctor to make sure that your body can undergo the Atkins diet.

Now if you are sure that you can do the Meal plans Atkins diet, then it's time to know the phases. Here are the following phases of Atkins diet:

1. Induction - Here, you are only allowed to consume at most 20 grams of carbohydrates per day. Plan for the foods you'll eat as this phase will last for 14 days.

2. Ongoing Weight loss - here, you are simply going to increase carbohydrate intake to five grams per day.

3. Pre-maintenance - here, you can try any food that you like to know if it could increase your body weight or not. If it is good enough, you can add that food on your diet.

4. Maintenance - This phase occurs after you have lost the weight that you wanted. You may now add foods with carbohydrates as long as it does not increase your weight.

The meal plans Atkins diet is a diet plan that could endanger your health. This is because of the fact that it denies fruits and vegetables as part of your diet. You know that fruits and vegetables are healthy foods so not eating it could endanger your health.

Now that you know that this diet plan is unreliable, you should go for Fat Loss for idiots. Fat loss for idiots lets you lose weight in a few days and let you feel good. This is the best way to lose weight.

Don't choose Meal Plans Atkins Diet. Put it this way it's too complicated to keep up with. Choose a diet that TELLS you what to eat exactly. 96% of people who tried it lost 11 pounds in 9 days. See what they said here:http://www.FatLossForIdiotsRevealed.com

Build Muscle, Burn Fat and Get Ripped Fast and Easy With a Total Body Approach to Weight Building

How long have you been trying to build muscle in various parts of your body? If it seems to be taking forever, you could be missing some critical elements of building muscle quickly. For instance, if you do not pay close attention to your technique, you could be wasting time and effort every time you drive across town to the gym.

If you were to hire a professional trainer they would advise you that the best build muscle workout plan would focus on using short repetition in connection with a heavier weight. They would also advise you to focus your time and energy on the larger muscle groups. These seemingly small changes will have you building muscle much more quickly and in a more efficient manner.

It is also wise to keep your body guessing with each work out. You need to change up the intensity and essentially 'confuse' the muscles for the best results. If the body knows what is coming, it's easier for it to coast and not put out the results you desire. You want your body at peak performance and intensity with every session.

As you know, you must watch what you eat. Cut out unnecessary fats, increase protein and water intake. If you are working hard to create great looking abs and there is a heavy layer of fat over them, you'll never see the full effect of all of your effort. When you build muscle, think of it as a total body approach; inside and out.

If you want to build muscle mass at top speed, you can take supplements to build muscle. A nutritionist can assess what supplements you need and in the proper quantities. This list of changes you can make in your work out routine is very basic and by no means represents all that you can do to build more muscle.

If you are tired of waiting to see the results you deserve, you need a plan to help you get an edge and get that buff body fast! The most comprehensive build muscle workout I have seen can be found HERE.
